Biomedical Engineering graduate launches AI and robotics startup
10 December 2025

Kameron Young, who graduated from Queen Mary with a BEng in Biomedical Engineering in 2024, has just launched her startup, Tombolo Research.
Based in Dubai, the company will focus on building robots that are aimed at women, as well as providing consultancy, research and bespoke robotics services.
Kameron said “Oftentimes, women of colour are not seen in the tech space as it is dominated by men. I believe representation is critical and it is my hope that other young girls of colour will be inspired to pursue careers in STEM.”
During her time at Queen Mary, Kameron developed her project, Kameron’s Lab, which comprised a podcast aimed at engineering students which interviewed professionals from a range of industries, and a series of events engaging engineering students – particularly women – with topics relevant to these industries.
Since graduating from Queen Mary, the Bermuda national moved to Dubai to study an MSc in AI and Machine Learning and has continued to progress Kameron’s lab.
You can support Tombolo by donating to the crowdfunder.
We’re thrilled to see Kameron’s continued ambition and success, and look forward to watching many more exciting things unfold in her future.
