A paper co-authored by Hardit Saini, an MEng Aerospace Engineering student, was presented at the 17th International Green Energy Conference and 6th International Conference on Energy and AI (IGEC25), held in Reykjavik, Iceland, in mid-October.

The presentation, “Feasibility Limits of Wind Power Load-Shifting in Great Britain: National Constraints and Local Opportunities,” explored the challenges of large-scale wind energy storage and the opportunities for local, small-scale systems. The work was undertaken by Dr Avital's group in collaboration with colleagues from Leeds Beckett University and the Vellore Institute of Technology, India.

An extended version of the paper has been invited for submission to Frontiers in Energy Research, incorporating the ongoing MEng wind-turbine project led by Dr Avital and Dr Vepa. This success highlights the School's commitment to empowering students to engage directly with active research and to produce work of genuine publication quality. By involving undergraduate students in internationally leading projects, we bridge the gap between learning, innovation, and impactful real-world energy research.
