The School of Engineering and Materials Science is celebrating positive results in the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES).

The survey results showed many impressive outcomes, including:

  • Queen Mary ranks 3rd in the UK for Engineering and Technology – out of 42 universities.
  • Engineering is the second best performing subject area in the University.
  • Queen Mary is the second best performing university for Engineering in the Russell Group.

The survey asks students to react to a series of statements about course content, skills development and student support. We are proud to share that the School received praise in a number of key areas, such as:

  • 100% of students responded positively to the statements that their course is intellectually stimulating, has enhanced their academic ability and challenged them to produce their best work.
  • 100% of students say they have developed their skills as independent learners, and that their research skills have developed during their courses.
  • 100% of students say health and wellbeing support meets their needs and that there are appropriate online library resources.
  • 95% of students responded positively about skills development from their programmes.
  • 100% of students agree that they have opportunities to give feedback.

We are extremely thankful to our teaching and support staff, whose commitment has made these excellent results possible, and to our postgraduate students for taking the time to share their invaluable insights in the survey.
