EduMark AI project success sees Dr Deepshikha featured in OpenAI web series
3 September 2025

Dr Deepshikha, Teaching Fellow at Queen Mary University of London, was selected to be featured in OpenAI’s international Professors Teaching with AI series.
Her video, now published on the OpenAI Academy platform, showcases EduMark AI—a project she leads to transform assessment by delivering AI-driven, personalised feedback and saving educators significant grading time.
This recognition places Queen Mary at the forefront of global conversations on AI in education. EduMark AI has demonstrated a 50–60% reduction in grading time while improving feedback clarity, consistency, and student satisfaction. The project illustrates how AI can enhance inclusivity, support reflective learning, and empower educators to focus more on mentoring and innovation, thereby showcasing both educational impact and international leadership.
The project was developed and piloted at Queen Mary University of London’s School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS) and Queen Mary Engineering School (QMES, Xi’an, China), with the feature itself published globally on the OpenAI Academy website. Dr Deepshikha was supported by Dr Li Wang, Dr Xinru Deng, Dr Giuseppe Viola and Dr Mouna Chetehouna from SEMS along with colleagues from across the university.
Dr Deepshikha said “I’m delighted to have received this recognition. EduMark AI began as a local pilot at Queen Mary, but its feature by OpenAI demonstrates its potential to influence education globally. I’m excited that our work shows how AI can be used responsibly to enhance assessment, empower students through timely feedback, and enable educators to focus on creativity and deeper engagement.”
