Dr Eldad Avital Named Topic Editor for Frontiers Research on Small Wind Turbines
28 August 2025

Dr Eldad Avital, Reader in Computational Fluids and Acoustics, has been appointed Topic Editor for the Frontiers research topic “Advances in Small Wind Turbines: From Aerodynamics and Structural Dynamics to Energy Storage Design”. This interdisciplinary initiative explores cutting-edge developments in small-scale wind energy systems, with a focus on aerodynamic optimisation, structural resilience, and integrated energy storage solutions. Dr Avital brings extensive expertise in fluid dynamics and acoustic modelling to the editorial team, helping to shape the scientific discourse and guide high-impact contributions.
The editorial team also includes Prof Nithya Venkatesan of VIT Chennai and Dr Kumaravel Rathinavel of Deutsche WindGuard India. This special topic stems from a collaborative research initiative on small wind turbines for urban and rural applications, supported by the British Council–UKIERI. Researchers (particularly those early in their careers) and practitioners are encouraged to submit their work to this dynamic and forward-looking collection. Submissions may include original research articles, technical reports, methods papers, and reviews. Contributions offering insights into policy, economics, education, or industry engagement relevant to small wind technology are also welcome.
