Mariam Olabisi Ashimi, a PhD researcher in the Composite Design and Analysis (CDA) Group, showcased her latest work at the 2025 UKSB Annual Conference, showcasing biocomposites made from olive stone powder and tapioca starch.
Her findings revealed properties comparable to, and in some cases superior to, low-density polyethene, positioning them as a sustainable alternative for single-use packaging. The research attracted strong interest due to the limited studies on olive stone powder, reinforcing CDA’s visibility in the area of sustainable materials innovation.
