Zhujuan Wang ("Pengpeng", centre of photo) a PhD candidate in the group of Ton Peijs has won a society-sponsored trip to the SAMPE Europe Conference in Paris in April 2006 for her presentation "Highly Oriented Nanocomposite Fibres". The 8th annual Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (SAMPE) UK & Ireland Chapter Students Seminar took place on 22 November at the IOM3 in London. Pengpeng's research deals with the development and characterisation of polymer fibres which are reinforced by carbon nanotubes. At the Paris meeting she will compete in an equivalent European event for a prize which could take her to the SAMPE Symposium in Long Beach, California. Good luck Pengpeng!
