On Tuesday 4th March, as part of the Skills and Employability (SKEMP) Week activities, Dr Sara Hajikazemi moderated a panel discussion titled 'Diversity in the Workplace: How to Overcome Biases'.

The four distinguished panelists shared their invaluable experiences and insights on navigating and addressing biases in the workplace.

Key takeaways:

  • Awareness and education: Understanding the different forms of bias and their impact is the first step towards creating an inclusive environment.
  • Active allyship: Supporting colleagues from diverse backgrounds and standing up against and calling out discriminatory behaviors.
  • Policy and practice: Implementing policies that promote diversity and inclusion, and ensuring they are practiced consistently.
  • Continuous improvement: Regularly reviewing and updating practices to foster a culture of inclusivity.
