Following the publication of his paper in Nature, Dr Chinnapat Panwisawas was invited to write a blog post on Nature Portfolio and Springer Nature Communities’ Behind the Paper pages.

The Nature Portfolio and Springer Nature Communities are for sharing wider discussion, ideas and experiences in research. They invite academics to write about their work in a more casual and accessible way, to invite discussion.

Chinnapat wrote about his paper ‘Integrated modelling to control vaporization-induced composition change during additive manufacturing of nickel-based superalloys’.

His blog outlined the challenge, how they approached it, key insights they came across, potential applications, and how they plan to continue this work in future.

This has far-reaching implications for industries that rely on nickel-based superalloys, including aerospace, energy, and medical sectors,” he explained.

He praised the international collaboration, and the team’s hope to expand this further to continue to push the boundaries of additive manufacturing technology.

We’re excited to see how these findings can be applied to real-world manufacturing processes”, he concluded with.
