6 September 2024
Jake Seah and Enrico Gigantino, both entering their third year in Biomedical Engineering and Chemical Engineering, showcased their research at the BioMedEng24 conference 5-6 September 2024 in the form of poster presentations:
- Jake Seah, Davide Carta, Daniel Hayer, Hossein Heidari, Julien Gautrot: “DLP Printing of Chips for Microvascularized Tissue Models”.
- Enrico Gigantino, Fiona Gibson, Stefaan Verbruggen: “Altered Biomechanics Analysis of Prostate Cancer Patients Using Phantom and Phantomless Densitometric Calibrations”.
Jake and Enrico are outstanding students who have been actively involved with the Queen Mary Centre for Undergraduate Research (QMCUR). The QMCUR team is particularly proud of their successful participation in this prestigious conference, which marks a significant milestone in their academic journeys and provides a solid foundation for further research. Special thanks go to their supervisors, Prof Julien Gautrot and Dr Stefaan Verbruggen, as well as the other co-authors, for their significant contributions to these achievements.
This participation highlights the success of offering research-based learning opportunities and showcases the remarkable capabilities of our students to make meaningful contribution to ongoing research when they are deeply committed and provided with appropriate guidance and support. Additionally, this achievement is expected to inspire other students engaged in research activities, creating a ripple effect through vicarious experience and boosting confidence among academic hosts in the research potential of our undergraduate students.
