Two SEMS students were successful applicants for the £5000 award to help grow their businesses.

In order to apply for the award, they had to demonstrate that they have an established product with customers and have made some revenue from it. Applications took the form of a two-minute video pitch and had to include how they had identified a solution to a challenge with their registered company, experience and ambition, and a plan for growth including how they would use the £5000 award money.

Shreeya Patel, a second year Biomedical Engineering student - and also General Secretary of the Queen Mary Hindu Society - won the award for her business SmartX Tutoring which offers one-to-one and group tutoring for STEM students of all ages. Shreeya will be using the money to increase their customer base.

“Winning the grow it award will have significant impact on the growth of SmartX Tutoring, allowing us to increase our brand awareness through marketing and building an automated booking system to create a seamless user experience. Thank you to the QM enterprise team for believing in the company!

Recent Mechanical Engineering graduate Martin Bielicki will be using the award to support his company Bench Technologies. Bench Technologies provides support to companies using AI platforms, enabling engineers to apply automations and save them 20% of the work load.

During his time at Queen Mary, Martin was a part of Hyperlink for all four years, and was awarded the Innovator Award for his work on the society.
