Yoshihide Fukahori's (a visiting professor in the Department of Materials) recently published book called 'Advocating earthquake protected houses - protecting not just the house but the home form destruction' has sold out all 14,000 copies in the first 2 months of sale. The book which is written in Japanese gives simple guidelines and instructions on how to design a home to avoid damage during eathquakes. As a result of this extraordinary interest a second edition has already been produced.
