The Royal Society has awarded Mohan a Brian Mercer Innovation Feasibility Award for 2005. Up to three such awards are made annually to test the feasibility of a project and, in particular, to enable the investigator to look at the technical and economical feasibility of commercialising an aspect of their scientific research. Mohan has been awarded £30,000 to develop cellular ceramics as building materials. The awarding announcement reads: "The decision was unanimous and the panel was most impressed by the science".
