Pavanakumar Mohanamuraly successfully defended his thesis on
"Fast Adjoint-assisted Multilevel Multifidelity Method for Uncertainty Quantification of the Aleatoric Kind"

His work uses Monte-Carlo methods to compute the effect of uncertainties due to manufacturing. Current methods work well for up to handful of uncertain parameters, but their computation cost increases dramatically when there are many uncertainties, as needed e.g. when describing the uncertainties arising from manufacturing or wear and tear.
Kumar developed an innovative multi-level and multi-fidelity approach and demonstrated the approach on industrial turbomachinery blades. However the method is generally applicable to any model with a large number of uncertain parameters.
