Today's publication of the annual set of employment performance indicators for UK universities and higher education colleges provides comparative data on the number of students in employment and further study six months after graduation.

94.8% of Queen Mary students are in employment or further study six months after graduation. This ranking is the sixth highest amongst non-specialist higher education institutions in England. It is over 2% higher than the national average, and also 2% higher than the benchmark set for Queen Mary. It is also an improvement of almost 7% from 2001/2, where 88% of Queen Mary students were in work or further study six months after leaving the College. Queen Mary's performance compares favourably nationally and with other colleges in the University of London: Imperial College reached 91.4%; Goldsmiths College was 93.3%; LSE and Royal Holloway's indicator was also 94.8%; King's was 95.4%; and UCL was 95.1%.

Professor Adrian Smith, Principal of Queen Mary, University of London said:
"We are particularly proud of Queen Mary's achievements in student employment following graduation, as the employability factor of a degree and place of study has become more relevant in a student's choice of higher education institution. A recent Sunday Times survey listed Queen Mary students as earning the second highest starting salaries in the UK after graduation. Combine this with our student employment performance and it is evident that Queen Mary degrees hold an increasingly high reputation amongst employers in the graduate job market."
