Professor Kaspar Althoefer's work has been featured in an article about the potential of developments in robotics engineering to improve working conditions in manufacturing industries, published by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
Prof Althoefer’s team have developed lightweight garments with electromyography sensors built in.The sensors can measure electrical signals being sent to the muscles in a way that does not limit the body's movement as wires and electrodes would. This allows a more complete picture to be built to see how the body is exerting force and to ensure workers are in an ergonomic position.
