SEMS student acknowledged for outstanding contribution to YINI
Liam Fallon, currently in his final year at SEMS studying Mechanical Engineering, participated a year- long industrial placement last year with Siemens. He found his placement with the assistance of The Year in Industry (YINI) which is part of the Engineering Development Trust (EDT). EDT is a charity that runs schemes to encourage students to take STEM subjects and to get experience in industry.

YINI matches talented undergraduate students with local businesses for challenging year-long work placements. Each year, EDT holds a competition for students who have made outstanding contributions to their placement organisations to represent the region in London. Six Regional Semi-Finalists, representing local companies, present their personal contribution to the business to a panel of judges.

Facing extremely strong competition, Liam was successful in winning the North West regional finals of 2015. This event aims to raise awareness of the benefits that Year in Industry students can bring to a business, allowing them to make a real difference with their enthusiasm and ‘can-do’ attitude.

We would like to acknowledge the great experience Liam had at Siemens and congratulate him on his victory!
