91% of SEMS's research ranked as at least 'Internationally Excellent'
The recently announced results from 2014's Research Excellence Framework (REF) has seen 91% of SEMS's General Engineering research listed as either World Leading (4*) or Internationally Excellent (3*).

Based on the Guardian's summary of REF, SEMS ranks 7th out of the 62 institutions which conduct research in the area of 'General Engineering' and is 4th for research outputs.

Achieving results this good is a team effort and everyone within the school contributes, not just members of academic staff whose outputs, impact cases, grant funding and PhD student completions directly contributed. It would not be possible to support world class research activity without our taught students and those who contribute to their learning or our technical and professional services support staff.

The results for QMUL overall are also exceptional. Based on a pure GPA ranking, QMUL is now in the top 10 of multi-faculty institutions in the UK, moving up from 11th-13th in the 2008 RAE.
