Congwei Wang, a PhD student in SEMS supervised by Dr Asa Barber, has won the London round of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining’s Young Persons’ Lecture Competition. Congwei beat strong competition from both Imperial College and UCL to the award by delivering his lecture on deformation mechanisms in graphene oxide materials using novel atomic force microscopy and in-situ synchrotron FTIR spectroscopy.
