Cummins Turbo Technologies sponsors research in the Energy Group
Cummins Turbo Technologies, a world leader in turbocharger technology, is sponsoring a 3 year research programme on the development of a novel engine derived from turbocharger components. Cummins Turbo Technologies is a division of Cummins Inc. the world's largest independent diesel engine manufacturer. The work is broadly based on gas-turbine performance studies initiated by Professor Alexander (publishes as T. Korakianitis) in the 1990s. The current program will investigate new component designs in new energy applications. Professor Korakianitis and a PhD student will conduct numerical and experimental studies for the design, optimisation and prototype testing of the novel powerplant. This program is an example of the practical applications of energy research conducted at QMUL, and of the importance of novel energy power plants in the worldwide energy market.
