EPSRC will support the next UK turbulence consortium where Dr Eldad Avital will serve as a member in the management team and Prof John Williams is one of the founding members. Prof Mike Gaster will join as a member of the consortium’s advisory board. The aim of the consortium is to provide access to the UK national computing facilities and support needed for turbulent flow research. The enlarged consortium will run for three years, consist of 35 academics from 13 UK universities and co-ordinated by Dr Coleman from the University of Southampton. The SEMS group will work on projects in aerodynamics, aeroacoustics, water wakes, channel flow and bio fluids. The consortium will conduct annual workshops to promote its research.
