Suwan Jayasinghe is Britain's Younger Engineer

Special presentations on 2002 by Britain's Younger Engineers at the House of Commons, London

Annual Lunchtime Reception for Younger Engineers from UK University, Industrial, Public Sector and Government Laboratories. Suwan Jayasinghe who is a PhD student of the Materials Department at Queen Mary, University of London (working with Professor Mohan Edirisinghe) was awarded the Leonardo Da Vinci Medal for excellence in engineering by a younger engineer for the poster entitled "A novel method of forming porous ceramic structures". He was also awarded a £500 prize donated by Rolls Royce plc. The competition was held at the Houses of Parliament yesterday and over 150 posters were presented by research students, post-docs, research fellows and academics from science and engineering departments in the UK including Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial College.

Academics, industrialists and EPSRC/RAL staff were among the 14 judges
