New Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering
Can you all please welcome Dr Andrew Wheeler to the School. As from 1st September Andrew is another of our new Lecturers in Aerospace Engineering.

Before starting at QMUL, he was the Rolls-Royce Industrial Fellow at the Oxford University Engineering Department, working within the Osney Turbomachinery Laboratory. He was also a Fellow of St Catherine's College.

He obtained his PhD in "Unsteady Flows in Axial Compressors" at the Whittle Laboratory in Cambridge in 2007, and obtained his MEng at Oxford University in 2003.

His research expertise includes gas turbine aero-dynamics and heat-transfer, and has worked on high pressure transonic turbines and high pressure compressors. His specific interests include: the transition to turbulence within boundary-layers and how this is influenced by both unsteady flows and aerofoil shape; the study of film-cooling in the presence of unsteady flows; and heat transfer within transonic flows.
