Shoufeng Yang's Science Exhibition at the Royal Society

Shoufeng Yang's Science Exhibition at the Royal Society
Each year the Royal Society runs a Public Science Exhibition. This year for the first time the Department was invited to contribute an exhibit.

The theme of the exhibit was based on Shoufeng Yang's research work on sand painting using sound as the mechanism for controlling the deposition of sand or powder. This opens up a new and novel route to manufacturing by solid freeforming.

It is highly prestigious to be invited to contribute to this event as it is attended by a huge wealth of dignitaries as well as the general public. Several thousand people visited the exhibit over the 4 days of the exhibition.

The exhibition which ran from 2nd to the 5th July was ably supported by Julian Evans, Charlie Zhang, Bipasha Sakar, James Busfield, Li Chen, Samantha Low, Caroline Jee, Kirsty Johnston, Loredana Miele, Doris Wong, Bill Godwin, Lan Zhang & David Lockwood. The exhibits were created back in the department with contributions from both members of the exhibit team as well as Tony Otten.
