Abstract:
Creativity is an over-used word. It usually refers to the ability to have ideas which other people find surprising. This can be due to a number of effects, but mainly to the ability to see connections which others can't. The connections are always there - we simply refuse to see them because we have defined our version of the problem to closely and too soon in the process of solution. Help is at hand!
The Russian system, TRIZ, helps you to define the problem more broadly and then to identify possible solutions, by dealing only in Function and Analogy.
