Taster Course: Materials - Seeing into the future
Date: | Thursday 13 July 2006 10:00 - 16:00 |
Location: | Department of Materials, QMUL |
Technological progression has always happen on the back of discoveries and advancement in materials science. Have you ever wondered how fibres 5 times finer than human hair can stop bullets? Do you know that in the future baby clothes will be made from textile materials that can sense temperature? This course is aimed at students who are curious about the advance materials technology. The activities will adopt a Problem Based Learning approach which is used in our degree programmes to develop knowledge and skills that can be applied by students in their future careers. There will be demonstrations and practicals.
The one-day course is designed for students who have an interest in science and who are studying at least 2 sciences and/or maths at AS level.
