Advances in Energy Materials (Mini-Symposium)

Advances in Energy Materials (Mini-Symposium)

Date: Tuesday 5 January 2021 14:00 - 16:30

Location: teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_ZmVlMWQ3MT...

The current environmental crisis has boosted interest in the design of renewable energy sources. Still, electricity demand is increasing twice as fast as expected. Consequently, the development of fossil fuel-free energy sources is among the most critical scientific challenges of this century. The mini-symposium presents advances in experimental research on energy materials reached by academia and industry. It is focused on materials that can be used in the production of thermoelectric generators, solar cells, sensors, batteries, and printed electronics. Recent synthetic methods, processes, and applications of materials such as perovskites, metal oxides, chalcogenides, and organic compounds will be discussed.

14:00 – 14:10 Welcome and Introduction

14:10 – 14:30 Practical development of efficient thermoelectric – photovoltaic hybrid systems based on wide-gap solar cells (Bruno Lorenzi)

14:30 – 14:50 Optimization of Transparent SnOx and ZnO Thin Films for Thermoelectric Devices (Eliana Vieira)

14:50 – 15:10 Organic Semiconductors: A path for a greener and smarter electronics (Matteo Massetti)

15:10 – 15:40 Effect of crystal structure and cation disorder on the thermoelectric properties of ternary and quaternary sulphides (Paolo Scardi, Eleonora Isotta)

15:40 – 16:00 Earth abundant materials for energy applications: RSE approach (Stefano Marchionna)

16:00 – 16:30 Open discussion and final remark
