Seminar: Transonic small disturbance theory and its applications to transonic flutter analysis

Date: Wednesday 5 February 2020 14:00 - 15:00

Location: 2.03 Joseph Priestly Seminar Room

The speaker, Dr Jae Ryong Kwon completed his undergraduate degree in the School of Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering at the Korea Aerospace University from 1994 to 1998. Following this, he received MSc and Ph.D. on aeroelasticity in Aerospace Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2005. His supervisor was Prof. In Lee. His Ph.D. thesis was about the research to effectively predict nonlinear flutter stability in the transonic flight regime. After obtaining the Ph.D., he has been working as a senior researcher at Agency for Defence Development since 2006. From 2006 to 2012, he participated in the Korean utility helicopter development project and researched airframe vibration, rotor dynamics, and flight tests. Since 2012, he has been involved in UAV development projects and has been working on the loads and aeroelasticity aspects. At QMUL he expects to work closely with Dr Ranjan Vepa on flutter analysis of morphing wings in transonic flow.
