Bio-inspired information processing can imply different meaning. In fact, there are several approaches, based on different working principles, allowing to realize computational systems, alternative to the existing computers. Several properties of polymers, such as flexibility, biocompatibility (or possibility of functionalization for biocompatibility), and self-assembling capabilities, allow to consider them as a very promising materials for the realization of bio- or bio-inspired computers. This paper is a very short overview on the use of polymers for the realization of 3 types of different bio-inspired systems, developed in our group, namely, memristive device-based electronic synapses, nanoengineered polymeric capsules (NPCs), and hybrid polymer/living beings systems. Only the main features of listed systems are present here with appropriate references to the works describing details of preparation, properties, and applications.
