Dr Eldad Avital 'From water waves to aerodynamically generated sound waves, a combined approach of modelling, detection, control and suppression.'

Date: Wednesday 14 March 2012 15:00 - 16:30

Location: UPC

In this talk we will explore a range of fluid wave phenomena varying from water waves to high speed aerodynamically generated sound waves. We will see how an approach of high fidelity simulations combined with analytical and experimental modelling can reveal details on wave generation and what story the waves can tell us about their surroundings. The seminar will start with internal water waves, proceed to water wake simulations and move on to sound propagation for detection and object cloaking. The talk will conclude with investigations on jet flow and noise as applied from aviation to bio-engineering applications.
