Nano Effects in Sintering, Jingzhe Pan, Leicester University
Date: | Wednesday 2 February 2011 14:00 - 14:30 |
Location: | Nanoforce Seminar Room |
Abstract: This talk presents our recent studies on a theoretical understanding of potential mechanisms by which nano-sized particles behave differently from micron-sized particles during sintering. These mechanisms include
(a) Change of interplay between grain-boundary migration and diffusion
(b) Large interface reaction
(c) Large thermodynamic driving force
(e) Crystalline reorientation
Each of these mechanisms was implemented into a computer model and their effects on the sintering process have been studied using the computer models. The emphasis of this talk will be on the illustration of these effects rather than the computer modelling techniques that we have developed.
