Competition Rules

  1. Entry to the competition is free and open to pupils studying at schools in the UK.
  2. Entrants can only make one submission to the competition.
  3. Entrants must be currently studying in Year 12 in a UK school.
  4. The competition is intended for pupils identifying as female, although entries from pupils with other gender identities may be accepted at the discretion of the organisers.
  5. Entrants must take reasonable care to ensure that all personal information submitted in the entry form is correct and accurate.
  6. Entry into the competition is through online submission only. Online entry will open on Thursday 27th March 2025 and will close at 5pm on Friday 30th May 2025.
  7. Only entries that have been submitted via the online form prior to the deadline will be considered.
  8. The project entry must be the original work of the entrant only. In particular, generative artificial intelligence (e.g. ChatGPT, Google Gemini, etc.) must not be used in preparation of the entry.
  9. The project entry must use the template provided and follow the specifications for file size, page limits and formatting. The organisers will not review submissions beyond the specified word or page limits.
  10. It is the responsibility of the entrant to inform the organiser of any change to contact details.
  11. From the online Stage 1 submissions, twenty Finalists will be invited to take part in Stage 2 of the competition. Five places will be reserved for attendees of schools in Tower Hamlets and five places will be reserved for entrants who are eligible for free school meals.
  12. To take part in Stage 2 of the competition, entrants must attend the Mile End campus of Queen Mary University of London on the Finalists’ Day, Monday 16th June 2025.
  13. The judges of Stage 2 of the competition will select one winner and two runners-up, who will be awarded prizes. The winner will receive a book allowance of £100 to be used on Aerospace Engineering-related books, and each runner-up will receive a similar £50 book allowance.
  14. Information provided to the organisers through the competition entry may be reasonably used by the organisers to contact entrants and to develop future activities that promote gender equality in Engineering subjects.
  15. The decisions of the organisers are final and cannot be appealed.
  16. The organisers reserve the right to revise the competition rules at any time. In such instances, the organisers will communicate any revisions to entrants as soon as possible.
