Electric field effect on multiphase flow in micro-scale
Supervisor: | Ahmed ISMAIL |
Apply by: | 26 July 2019 |
Description
The behaviour of multi-phase flow in the presence of an electric has been an attractive research topic for many years and still has a huge attention due to its importance in a wide range of applications in energy, manufacturing and health. This project will shed light on the underlying physics of electric field effect on micro-droplets, micro-jets and cavities collapse. The aim is to develop physical models capable of predicting the behaviour in such small-scale flow and then use these models to develop new techniques for the printing of functional materials among other applications.
The ideal candidate should have:
- A strong background in fluid dynamics and applied physics.
- Knowledge in electrohydrodynamics (electrospraying, charged drops).
- Knowledge of dimensionless analysis.
- Some experience in setting experiments and visualization techniques.
- Some basic programing skills.
This opportunity is for a highly motivated person who is willing to dedicate their full-time to carrying out experimental and theoretical work and is passionate about learning new things and conducting scientific research.
