We were pleased to once again hold the bi-annual Industrial Liaison Forum live in-person at Queen Mary University of London on 10th November 2021 in the Octagon.

The event was well attended with industrialists from over forty organisations. The day was broken up into five parts, starting in the morning with the PhD research poster exhibition, followed by the annual School of Engineering and Materials Science Prize Day ceremony for the 2020-2021 academic year, a celebratory networking lunch in the Senior Common Room, a collective Industrial Advisory Board meeting and concluding with the launch of the London City Institute of Technology.

The PhD poster exhibition was of great interest to faculty, students and attending industrialists alike. Over 50 posters were displayed with three prizes awarded.

The annual school Prize Day ceremony then followed with over thirty five student prizes and nearly £5000 in prize money awarded. There were a number of multiple award recipients and all of the winners were honoured to have their prizes delivered by the Head of School, Hazel Screen.

The afternoon consisted of four separate panel sessions, chaired by academic and support staff and made up of attending industrial participants, alumni and current placement students. The panels were followed by an Industrial Advisory Board meeting focused on our ongoing Programme Review and new MSc in Systems Engineering.

Finally from 4pm onwards the London City Institute of Technology was officially launched outlining the apprenticeship programmes being offered from September 2022 by Queen Mary University of London and our partner Newham College.

The school's Industrial Liaison Forum has now been held twice a year for nearly fifteen years and provides an opportunity for students, academics and industrial links to interact and further Queen Mary’s strong position and reputation within the engineering and materials science sectors.

The next Industrial Liaison Forum will again be held in the Octagon on 30 March 2022 and will be focused on showcasing our current final year BEng and MEng projects and continuing the annual tradition of celebrating the successes of our alumni.
