The Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) has confirmed the accreditation details for our programmes following their re-accreditation visit to SEMS in November.

Students completing an IMechE accredited degree are deemed to have met part or all of the academic requirements for registration as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and are in a strong position to achieve professional engineering status after a period of initial professional development in industry.
Our conversion MSc programmes in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Sustainable Energy Engineering are the only conversion programmes to have accreditation from the IMechE.

The following Bachelor degrees (including Year Abroad and Industrial Experience pathways) have been accredited as meeting the academic requirement, in part, for Chartered Engineer registration:
- BEng Aerospace Engineering
- BEng Biomedical Engineering
- BEng Mechanical Engineering
- BEng Sustainable Engineering

Our integrated Masters (MEng) degrees in the areas above have been accredited as meeting the academic requirement, in full, for Chartered Engineer registration.

The following Masters degrees have been accredited as meeting the Further Learning component of the academic requirement for Chartered Engineer registration:
- MSc Aerospace Engineering
- MSc Biomedical Engineering
- MSc Computer Aided Engineering
- MSc Sustainable Energy Systems
- MSc Advanced Mechanical Engineering
- MSc Biomedical Engineering with Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering
- MSc Biomedical Engineering with Imaging and Instrumentation
- MSc Biomedical Engineering (Conversion)
- MSc Mechanical Engineering (Conversion)
- MSc Sustainable Energy Engineering (Conversion)
