Smart Materials

Lead by Dr Stoyan Smoukov (QMUL) and Prof Kong Jie (NPU)

Smart Materials is one of the hottest topics in materials science, with interest rising exponentially over the last two decades and tens of thousands of publications last year. By incorporating multiple functions, smart materials could replace entire devices we use today, yet do so efficiently, sustainably and with greater flexibility in miniaturization. Growing smart materials is a very recent trend, where understanding the role of interfaces plays an increasingly important role. The Smart Materials and Interfaces session will highlight multiple investigations from both QMUL and NPU, as well as an international research group, to highlight progress and potential collaboration opportunities in this field.
