Pre-university Preparation

For students who will be starting at Queen Mary in September 2012 the first day of term will be Monday the 17th of September. Normally the first week is induction week. This will give you a chance to meet other students, enrol in all your courses, find your way around the university and generally find your feet before teaching starts.

In August 2012 the induction programme will be confirmed and will be available on the induction website.

Books

We do not have a reading list for students to purchase before they come to Queen Mary. However students enrolling on Materials programmes (Dental Materials, Materials Science and Engineering, Medical Materials Science and Sustainable Materials) are recommended to purchase W D Callister. Materials Science and Engineering. 2006. For students taking Engineering programmes (Aerospace, Mechanical, Medical and Sustainable Engineering) the following books are recommended; James – Modern Engineering Maths, 4th edition (2 year extension access card for MyMathLab), Hibbeler – Engineering Mechanics: Dynamics, 12th edition (with MasteringEngineering), Hibbeler – Engineering Mechanics: Statics, 12th edition (with Mastering Engineering). Students that started in September 2011 were able to purchase a 3 book package.  Once enrolled students were given a unique voucher to purchase this package through the College Bookshop.  The package was subsidised by the School and provided substantial savings for the students.
