Bionic Man brings implants to life

At the recent Big Bang Science Fair 25,000 people were introduced to the Bionic Man - a new interactive exhibit that introduces people to the huge range of implants being used in medicine and dentistry. Visitors got the chance to handle many of these implants including total joint replacements, prosthetic limbs, an artificial sphinchter and mechanical heart valves.
The interactive was developed by staff at the School of Engineering and Materials Science at Queen Mary University of London which offers undergraduate degree courses in Medical Engineering and Medical Materials.
