Fees

While obtaining a degree certainly comes at a cost, statistics show that graduates often have better career options and salaries than non -graduates.

The College's current policy on tuition fees is set out on the central Fees and finances page or the international students fees page. In addition, the Advice and Counselling Service has lots of useful information on money matters, both for home students and international students.

Science and Engineering Excellence Scholarship

Students who apply to any of the programmes offered by The School of Engineering and Materials Science will be considered for the £3,000 per year Excellence Scholarship. These are for students who accept QM as their firm choice and acheive at least AAA in key a-levels.

Queen Mary Bursary Scheme

Queen Mary, University of London has a generous bursary scheme. 

• Queen Mary bursaries of £1,500 each year for students whose household income is less than £25,000 (and are in receipt of a full or partial higher education maintenance grant)
• Queen Mary bursaries of £1,200 each year for students with household income between £25,001 and £42,600 (and are in receipt of a full or partial higher education maintenance grant)
• the National Scholarship Programme (NSP) over 250 students from low income backgrounds will receive a £3,000 benefit in their first year, with £1,500 given as a fee waiver and £1,500 as a cash bursary and other support. In their second and third years they will receive the Queen Mary bursary. The process for gaining an award under the NSP will be competitive. To receive an award students will have to be English-domiciled undergraduates, come from households with a residual household income of £25,000 or less, and be in receipt of a full non-repayable Government maintenance grant. They will have achieved above a certain level of UCAS tariff points, the exact level of which will be confirmed at the time of the A-Level results being issued.

Other bursaries, scholarships and prizes

There are a number of College-wide and department-based awards and prizes provided mainly from trust funds to students showing particular ability and these are usually given at the end of an academic year through the recommendation of the head of department.

Queen Mary and Westfield Alumni Student Bursaries

We offer two new annual Student Bursaries of £3,000 – £1,000 for each of the three years. Eligible students will have received their secondary education in the London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Newham, Hackney or the City of London. Aldgate and Allhallows Foundation Scholarships

Provides scholarships over the duration of the course to undergraduate entrants who are permanent residents of either the City of London or the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Candidates must also meet other specific eligibility criteria regarding age and means of support.

Eliahou Dangoor Scholarships in Science, Engineering and Mathematics

The Eliahou Dangoor Scholarships, funded by a donation from a Queen Mary alumnus, have been created to provide talented students with the opportunity to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects at the leading universities in the United Kingdom.

Thanks to a generous £3 million donation from Dr Naim Dangoor, this scholarship will assist students to study vital science and maths-based subjects at the UK’s leading research-intensive universities.

Sir John Cass’s Foundation Lord Mayor’s Scholarship Programme

These scholarships of £7,000 a year for three years will be awarded to full-time undergraduate students in engineering, design and technology or mathematics. To be eligible to apply for one of these scholarships you need to be a permanent resident of certain inner London boroughs, and meet other criteria regarding age and means of support.

International Student Scholarships
