Queen Mary students win IMechE prizes for best medical engineering project

Two students on the medical engineering degree programme at QMUL won prizes in a national competition run by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
Mel Gabriel, who graduated last year with an MEng degree, won 1st prize for the best Medical Engineering student project. Mel's presentation and report describing her MEng group design project in collaboration with P&N Medical Ltd. The project investigated whether shock wave lithotripsy can safely and effectively be used to unblock urethral stents. The results of the project have been taken up by urologists who worked with the students on this project.
Yewande Raji, a current 3rd year medical engineering student from QMUL was also awarded a prize in the best student poster competition.
