This course covers fundamentals and applications of combustions in automotive engine. Topics covered in the course include the principles of operation of spark and compression ignition engines, energy and fuels, fuel properties for use in engines, combustion and flame development in CI and Si engines, gaseous and particle emission, and regulations, as well as additional directed advanced reading material in energy use in power plants, combustion modelling and life cycle analysis.
